Not bad at all.Ive brewed this with BE 2, dry hopped with Galaxy and nelson sav. Ive used both saf blue and red yeast depending on the day. Made it about a dozen times. I reccomend leaving it in the keg for at leased 2mnth before drinking. Use saf blue yeast . The two months in the keg takes away some of the sharpness. Its not a real IPA but it tastes good. At parties this has always been a fav with my friends , they say its a bit like drinking orange juice beer. Lots of citrus flavour from the Galaxy hops. I think the hops really make it. I use galaxy and nelson in a few different brews now. Tried this with Thomas Coopers IPA and found that it too needs a lot of time in the keg. I much prefer the Black Rock as its not as sharp. |

Black Rock Pale AleI have been brewing the Pale Ale for 10 years.I use 250g maltodrexin then 850g white sugar to make a good brew. Do not drink for at least 3 months. I also make a lower alcohol beer using 500g of maltodrexin only. Both beers improve with age. I drink between 5 months and a year old. Keep all bottles standing up and the sedeminent will stick to the bottom of the bottle. Try to brew at 26 degrees and when bottled keep at 20+ degrees for 5 days. |

what do you call itrecipe 1.1l Blonde Black Rock Malt extract 1.5l Black rock East India Pale Ale 250g Crystal Grain 1kg Coopers Dextrose 15g Goldings 6.5% Finishing Hops 50g Mt Hood 5.3% Hop Pellets 1pkt Muntons Premium Gold active Yeast 1 pkt Black rock Yeast Starter og 1060 fg 1018 abv 5.6% The frementation gave me a hard time taking 12 days in total 22-25C being maintained. Bottles have now had 2 weeks secondary fermentation the early results look very promissing, a very pronounced alcohol front taste which developes into an easy pale ale no real bitterness that was expected but will make a great winters ale, definitly not a summer session beer. |

pale aleI put this kit down with a number 50 brewcraft enhancer, This was the 2nd beer I'd ever done and considering that, it turned out rather well, slight lager flavour not strong and with a light hop smell and taste. Good summer drink, nice and light, easy to drink. One thing though if you just use the 1kg coverter you will only get a 3.5% alch beer, so if there's a next time I'd add .5kg of malt or dextrose to raise it. |

Not really an IPA but...Made up to be an American IPA with 1.5kg LDME, 15g Cascade, 15g Perle and 12g US-05 yeast. Filled to 21 ltrs and fermented for 8 days at 19c then kegged and left for 1 week. It isn't really true to style but it's a very nice drop. Nice citrus overtones from the Cascade & Perle with a little bitterness in the back and has great head retention. Will make this again. |

blackrock east india pale aleI've made this kit up a few times now, although it isn't a true IPA if you use 1kg. additional malt,mini-mash 250g. of pale malt and use 30g of Cascade hops it turns out reasonable |

the nerveThey've got a nerve calling this IPA...even calling it beer is taking a liberty. You cannot make IPA from a can kit of this stuff with 1kg of dextrose. Heck, you can't even make beer! Gives Black Rock a bad name. On to the next one. |

Weaker than my 9 month old sonI've tried two different brews of this. The first was overly fruity, had no body and even less flavour. I put that first one down to possibly brewing too warm (though I had it under 20 all the way) and possibly the wrong adjunct (Brewcraft 15), with the second I set about adjusting the body with a stiffer brew booster (Brewcraft 20) and getting the yeast going right, I even gave it a good dose of bittering hops (NZ Bullets early, Saaz at the end). It is still lacking body and flavour and the fruitiness is still there. She's just not good. I'll be giving it to guests; but only the in-laws. |

Lc Rogers type.made this kit to 22l and added 500 dextrose, 250 maltodextrin, 500 dark spray malt, 12g cascade hops and used s04 yeast. Has turned out to be a real great flavorsome beer with caramel scent to it. Not a session beer though only one at a time. |

A WinnerI asked the HB shop about 'that HB aftertaste!' that kind of lingering (not hops) staleness. He thought that it might just be the coopers Kits??? I have been mostly brewing Coopers so at his recommendation I put down this one. A winner! Brewed with 12g Hersbruker Hops and brew booster. Racked and Bulk primed it is fruity Malty Hopsy and clean. Love it... Will do again. |

Very niceBrewed with 500g ldm, 500g dex, cascode hops. To 23 litres, primary 7 days, racked for 7 days. Tried @ 4 weeks in the bottle and came up a treat, lovely citrusy flavour goes down almost too easy. |

IPAIt's pale for an IPA. My recipe was simple, just the kit, 750g of Light Dry Extract, 500g of dextrose and 18g of tettnanger hop pallets in 19 litres. I used Wyeast London Ale (1968) yeast. The beer is an excellent session beer, with a nice balance of bitterness and malt. Not quite an IPA, but a nice enough kit if treated well. |

Black Rock East India Pale AleFollowed tin directions but added No. 15 Brewmaster. Week in primay. Added coriander seeds and orangle peel that I boiled in 350ml of water for ten minutes. Got rid of most of the seeds and orange peel. Poured into seondary fermenter - than left for 10 days. Bottled with Coopers Carb drops. Tried one after 18 days in bottle. Result - fantastic - very euro style beer. |

Not worth the wait.I made this kit with a Brewcraft Brewblend #2 booster as per recommendations intended to produce a Coopers Pale Ale clone. Results were consistent for all 3 batches. Thin and watery. Samples at monthly intervals to 8 months have shown me it does not improve with time. Severely lacking in body and flavour. |
