Coopers Dark Ale James November 29th 2011

Tasty Dark Ale

Made this kit up with the Coopers Brew Enhancer 2, steeped 280g Crystal malt and 90g Roasted barley. Made up to 23 litres and fermented with the kit yeast at 20C. The resulting beer is a very deep ruby colour, almost black. Smells are mostly chocolate and treacle. It tastes great, goes down very easy, even in summer due to it being not too heavy. Certainly a very nice and simple dark ale.

Beaut Beer

Made this beer up with 1kg of light malt, 500g of dark malt. Steeped 12g of fuggles hops in hot water and threw the whole lot into the fermenter, used kit yeast. This beer is fantastic, great maltiness with burnt undertones. My new favourite dark ale!

Great drop

I have brewed this twice and have not been dissapointed. For a kit this is a bloody great drop. Both times followed the base recipe and added some late addition saaz. Could easily have a keg of this on the go all time. Love it!

Good quaffer

Tried this for the first time recently with just the kit and Be2. As a kit and kilo it give you a crisp easy drinking beer great for a hot day. It does lack some hop character. Will try this again with 100g Carapils steeped 30 mins and some saaz and hallertau. Another great kit!

Great base kit

Used 500g LDME and 300g Dex first time, kit yeast, fermented at 22°C for 2 weeks. SG 1040 FG 1010. Nice bitternes, nice head, great beer, but missing something. So next time I used 500g LDME, 200g crystal, 50g roasted barley, Safale-04, 15g Sytrian Golding bil 15 min, 15g Styrian golding for dry hopping (5 days) and made Irish red ale. Fermented at 21°C for 2 weeks. SG 1036 FG 1010 Tastes awesome. It has a Fullers IPA taste, complex aftertase and great hop aroma. Will make again this way, but with more LDME for some more strength. Kit gets 4 starts, but can be improved!
Coopers Bitter [Beast] November 13th 2011

Extra smooth bitter

Tweaked Coopers' ESB recipe: 500g LDME, 300g Dex, 150g Molasses, kit yeast. SG 1044 FG 1012, brewed at 24°C, bottled after 5 (!) days. After 3 months in the bottle it's a great bitter. Will make again, but next time with less molasses (darkens the beer and adds too much flavour) and more LDME (it's a very bitter kit). Will also use Safale S04 yeast and add boil 15g Styrian Goldind for 15 minutes for flavour and dry hop with 15g Styrian Golding for 5-7 days for aroma. Great kit with proper bitternes, but can be improved.

Surprisingly great beer!

Bought this beer kit on sale for only 9.99$ Canadian as it was close to it's expiration date. I had really low expectations as my homebrew supplier usually puts this kit on sale. It was brewed with 500 grams of 2 row and 500 grams of Crystal malts. The suggested quantity on the kit is 15 liters but I topped it up to 21 accidentally as I thought it was a standard kit. The ABV was obviously low at 4% but the beer came out sensational. Bottle conditioned. Gets better with age. I would say after 6 weeks, the flavours are fully rounded off. I would say it is by far the best Pilsner kit I've ever brewed.

Wasn't exactly what I was expecting...

Bought this kit for 14.99$. Brewed it with 1kg of light DME and 300 grams of high malt glucose. Added 100 grams of Fuggles, Tattenang and Saaz at the 40 min, 20 min and 5 min boil. Once finished boiling, I added the kit. Fermented at 20-21 degrees. after 10 days, I placed beer into a secondary for 7 days. Bottle conditioned with dextrose.. It turned into a nice Canadian Pale Ale. Not the best beer I've made but decent.

Decent Dark Ale.

Brewed this Ale with 250 grams of chocolate malts and 1kg of dark DME. Added 2 tbl spoons of cinnamon, 1 tbl spoons of nutmeg at the 50 min boil and 200 grams of tattenang hops at the 30 min boil. Added kit when boil was completed. Fermented at 21 degrees. 10 days in primary and 10 days in secondary. Pretty decent ale. Seems to have the generic Coopers hop bittering flavor that we are not use to here in North America. Beer still came out rich and well carbonated sitting 3 weeks in the bottles. Better once matured for 2 months.

Good IPA

This was my first homebrew I ever attempted to make. I used 250 grams of maltodextrin, 1 kg of dextrose and 400 grams of high malt glucose. Fermented at 22 degrees...I regret not using DME but it still turned out tasty. No off flavors but the bitter finish does tone itself down after 3-4 weeks which is a good thing because they were too sharp at first.

Black Rock East India Pale Ale Phillip Foster November 6th 2011

Black Rock Pale Ale

I have been brewing the Pale Ale for 10 years.I use 250g maltodrexin then 850g white sugar to make a good brew. Do not drink for at least 3 months. I also make a lower alcohol beer using 500g of maltodrexin only. Both beers improve with age. I drink between 5 months and a year old. Keep all bottles standing up and the sedeminent will stick to the bottom of the bottle. Try to brew at 26 degrees and when bottled keep at 20+ degrees for 5 days.

Coopers India Pale Ale (IPA) Dirk Diggler October 26th 2011

Great kit

Made this kit with BE2 and topped up water to 21 litres. Tasted fantastic after two months - has mellowed somewhat since so I'm glad I chose to add less water than recommended.
Coopers Wheat Beer Doodfood October 19th 2011

Full flavour

Coopers wheat can with 500g wheat dry malt and 200g dextrose and safale-06 wheat yeast, 1 wk in fermenter and 2 wks in bottles, tasting deep rich full with slight hint of banana, best one I've brewed so far, will definitely try again!
