Beaut BeerMade this beer up with 1kg of light malt, 500g of dark malt. Steeped 12g of fuggles hops in hot water and threw the whole lot into the fermenter, used kit yeast. This beer is fantastic, great maltiness with burnt undertones. My new favourite dark ale! |

Great KitGreat Kit! It is really resilient kit, took 2 months to condition out to a reasonable drinkable beer, considering what I did to it! Used 500g dex, 200g Light DME, 300g Dark DME. Used kit yeast, fermented at 30C (it got hot the week I was brewing). Very green early on, but as it conditioned alot of the twang subsided. Would resond well to better treatment during brewing. I will be doing it again as soon as the schedule allows. Great dark colour, light mouth feel with some sweetness on the finish. |

Good StuffMade with 1.5kg liquid amber malt, 100g chocolate malt, 20g Newport hops @20mins and fermented at 19c for 9 days with 12g of S-04. This is the first Beermakers kit I've tried and I have to say I'm impressed. It's very dark and rich in colour and flavour and is my idea of what a good dark ale should be. I'd probably up the hops next time to give it a bit more bitterness but it's a good brew. |

like a Tooheys oldI've made this twice, both times with 1.5kg black rock amber malt & Filled to about 21.5 lts. The 2nd time I added 12.5 g of fuggles hops. Both were quite nice , I'm no huge fan of Tooheys Old but if you wanted to make somthing similar then this is pretty close. The head quality on both brews was pretty ordinary , perhaps 200g of corn syrup might help. |
