One of the worstI brewed a lot of hefe with wyeast 3068 and used a lot of different kits. Port66, muntons, brewferm Tarwabier and this. This was the thinnest beer of them all and lack of mouthfeel really is a killjoy with wheatbeers. |

A great kitThis is the new Preacher's Hefe wheat kit (all older reviews from 2015 and back fall out of this category) new kit has Belgian Wheat style yeast, old kit was American style wheat (ale yeast, no esters)
I've done probably around 8-10 of these kits now, all slightly different. Lately I've been adding too much seed (20-30g crushed) and it's been too overpowering, to the point where it merges with the yeast to form a ‘sewerage’ type taste and aroma, n that aint' no good.. the sewerage dies off over time and then you just get a coriander seed beer. I've also tried brewing with honey, no different in taste whatsoever because it's so highly fermentable, honey malt would be the go.
I've stopped adding peel and settled on 10g coriander seed, 15g pride of Ringwood (very short boil) a bit of Hallertau or similar (again, very short boil) and sometimes some specialty ‘pale ale’ fruity aroma hops (all thrown in to the fermenter) but to tell you the truth I can never even detect these. They have massive effects on ales I brew with clean ale or lager yeast, but the Belgian style yeast provided within the kit is so good these are undetectable. I always use 1.5kg wheat malt extract and the Pride of Ringwood helps bring the final product up to ‘Redback’ clone territory. Another favorite of mine. Always brewed under 22 degrees but finally have one in the fridge at 24 so see if I can detect more banana this batch
I feel you can quite easily make a Hoegaarden clone from the kit also. It's versatile, it's simple, choice of yeast is excellent, it's been rated #1 at beer comps over all grain, it's a great piece of kit

Easy, fast and very drinkableI have made this twice as a Hefeweizen attempt. Once in a 12 litre with the kit only and once as a 23 litre with the kit and coopers wheat LME. I guess they came out pretty much the same, but the latter slightly better as I used a 3.party Bavarian Yeast strain from Mangrove Jack´s. Both got a lot of banana and "soapy" taste, which is not unusual in wheat beers. They will clear up a lot in a few weeks and become more of a crystal weiss beer. Not that that matters to much. I can´t put my finger on it, but believe they taste a bit extract like and looses some of the character of a great weiss beer; Expect a thin, clear and "soapy" wheat beer, that is somewhat lager like. It certainly helps to throw in a slice of lemon at serving and it becomes very drinkable. Just don´t expect a Paulander or anything really close to German weiss beers, but it still works somehow. The good is that it will ferment fast (7 days) and mature in (14-20 days). Good turn-around alternative for summer days. |

Good Hefeweizen KitI made this kit to the Hefeweizen recipe on the Coopers website. 1 can Coopers wheat beer, 1kg Coopers liquid wheat malt, make up to 23 litres and ferment using WB-06 yeast. The resulting beer is certainly a Weißbier, typical aroma. The flavour is a bit light, and mouthfeel is a little watery. The head is light and fluffy just like a weißbier should be. Overall a very nice beer, next time I would maybe lower the total volume by a litre or two to concentrate the flavours. |

Honey Wheat BeerI made up a honey wheat beer using the Thomas Coopers Selection wheat beer tin and two US pounds [about a kilo] of store-bought, everyday honey. Nothing else, just mixed it up the usual way to 23 litres and used the kit yeast. Bottled about two weeks ago, bulk primed with 180g of dextrose. Tried the first one after one week - the honey was very prevelant. Cracked number two [oh, OK, and numbers three and four] at two weeks. The honey is still very much there, but blending nicely with the wheat beer. I'm pretty enthused about this simple brew. Will probably reach it's best in a couple more weeks, at which time I will know better if this one needs any tweaking, like more hops or a differant yeast. |

Coopers Wheat BeerBrewed this with 500g LDME, 300g Dextrose, 1.5kg Coopers wheat malt extract can and a 12g cascade hop teabag steeped for 15 mins. Fermented for 7 days and conditioned for one month the beer is nice and cloudy with excellent head retention and a crisp, full taste.... Will try again!!! |

First time brewingThis is the first time we have home brewed. We used cane sugar rather than brewing sugar. It was cider-ish, but after 2 weeks in the bottle the cider flavored lessened. The whole batch was gone by 3 weeks. It was good enough that our best friend was convinced that home brewing is the way to go. |

Coopers WheatBrewed with 300g of dextrose, 456g of LDME, and . The directions that came with the kit are lacking, but it does say to add boiling water to the ingredients, which i did not do. I bolied the wort for 45 minutes, which I think had a negative effect on the beer. It was more bitter than I expected. Not sure if I'll do this on again as I'm looking for more of Belgain White style. |

Coopers Wheat BeerMade with 500g LDME and 300g Dextrose, 150g malted wheat steeped for 20min, and 10g Saaz dry in the fermentor from day 4 til day 10. Used the kit yeast at 19-21'C. Turned out quite well after 3 weeks with a very pale body and a nicely white, fluffy head. The body isn't overly light, and the taste is delicate and well balanced with a nice impart from the Saaz. Perfect for hot summer days. Only other comment is that it would benefit from a proper wheat yeast such as WB-06. I'd give this a no-joking 5-star rating. |

Love itBrewed this with 1kg of LDME and 300g dex. Boiled the malt and dex and added 10g of Saaz hops for 5 min. Kegged it and am drinking it now after no maturation time and love it. Zesty, fruity and clean. Going to do again for sure as I have ordered two more cans :) |

Needs hops?I made this with a 1kg tin of Morgans Wheat Malt and K-97 yeast. While it's still young, it certainly lacks something - tartness or hops to balance some residual malt sweetness? Disappointing. |

weizenhave done this as a base for hefeweizen probably a dozen times using wyeast 3068. The yeast that comes with it wont make a wheat beer - at best it will make an american style wheat. Brewed with 1.0kg muntons dried wheat malt, 3068 to 20 litres at 22c. banana esters and tart! A great base for a wheat, not very bitter at all- probably the most consistant can for a wheat beer I have found |
