Woodfordes Great Eastern Ale Jerry P. December 12th 2010

impressive beerkit

Made as per instructions.Bottled after 9 days of fermentation (18C).No sugar or DME added in order to avoid a large sediment. (English School of Fermentation Break). Carbonation takes a bit longer (about 15-30days) but you get well carbonated beer. The result was impressive: Well balanced aromatic bitter. An ideal thirst quencher. One of the best kits I've made.

Excellent beer

My return to home brew after a gap of 30ish years, (last ones were Geordie and Boots beer kits in UK). This one is superb. Just followed instructions, no extras. Ferment temps around 20 - 24oC, (Perth Sept). Fantastic beer at 2 weeks (couldn't resist any longer), and just getting better with time. Well worth the premium price.

Very Strong Dark Ale

Made it as per instructions. Fermented 15 days, than bottled. No secondary fermentation, no sugar at bottling. Carbonation will appear slowly. Great beer. Strong and full of taste and flavor. Much better aged.

Coopers Original Draught George December 5th 2010

Bavarian Pilsner

Made this up as per the Bavarian Pilsner recipe on Aussie Home Brewing website: 1 can of Coopers Lager or Draught,500g Sugar, Glucose or Dextrose,300g Light Dry Malt Extract, 20g Saaz Hop Pellets. Used US 1056 ale yeast. Comes out a very bright gold color, good hop flavor and aroma. Will make this again. Highly recommended recipe!
Coopers Canadian Blonde George December 5th 2010

Candian Blonde

Made this one as per basic instructions - kit, BE1, kit yeast. Wanted to get a base for future variations. After six weeks or so in the bottle, it's not a bad light beer. Nothing overly amazing or impressive, but still good. Might try again with some very light crystal and some Cascade hops.

Belting

Bottled my second batch of this kit last week. Ready to drink, first batch was excellent. Definitely recommended.

Muntons Export Stout Reimy November 23rd 2010

crowd favourite

i was recommended this can by brewcraft sellers along with 1kg brewblend No. 25 stout booster, Goldings finishing hops 15 grams(4-6.5%). Steeped hops for 10 minutes before adding the steeped liguid and bag to brew.S.G 1040-F.G 1018 23 litres. Brew went like made at 18 -21c for 4 days before slowing and stopped after 8 days. i bulks primed it using 155 grams dextrose and made 30 longnecks. After two weeks i loved it and so did anyone who tried it- them wanting to take it home and share around. Will most definately do it again ASAP.

A good Bock

In Primary for 3 weeks at 18c. (don't follow the directions with these kits-benefit from more conditioning time in primary) Bottled in plastic with table sugar cubes. Initially had quite a bit of residual sweetness after just 2 or 3 weeks in bottle. Tasting now after 2 months, has dried out and produced a good, tasty Bock beer. I wouldn't try it unless you are a Bock fan. Cons - poor head retention probably due to the high ABV-6.5%. Worth trying but have enjoyed other Festa Brew styles more. May try again to see if it's any better from the keg. 4 stars.
Coopers Sparkling Ale Jack November 14th 2010

Sparkling wonderful

Have brewed this twice. First time at ~25C ambient. Some unpleasant flavours, and too strong. Nor did it improve. Second time at 18C, about as low as practical with the Coopers yeast. I agree with JD - needed extra hop but I used 12g Cascade for finishing. Also, left out the dex - over 5% ABV without it. Result wonderful. Compared to its namesake, maltier, hoppier, cteamier head. Just love it. Why did others say it needs time? Was good right from the end of 2ndary.
Coopers Real Ale GGLurch November 14th 2010

Good Product

Used that kit together with Coopers 1.5kg amber lme and 250g dextrose. WYEAST 1084 Irish Ale, 7 days fermenting, 4 weeks after bottling - nice brown colour, full bodied - perfect.
Coopers Stout Rob November 12th 2010

delicious!

This was my 5th brew and it's the best so far. Brewed at 21ÂșC with Coopers BE1 plus 1kg Coopers LDME, pitched with Safale-04 yeast. 20 days in fermenter and it was already tasting decent. Now, 4 weeks in the bottle and it just keeps getting better and better. Definitely want to make this again soon.
Farmland Draught rob November 12th 2010

Coles sellout

I bought 5 cans of this for $4.66 each since they decided to discontinue their homebrew range. New to brewing, I made one by the book as my second brew. Coopers BE2 and supplied yeast, after 9 weeks in the bottle it it very drinkable. Definitely tastes like homebrew but it's not terrible by any standard. No head retention unfortunately but it is bubbly enough to be considered beer.

One of their better kits

I generally like the Brewhouse kits because of the fact that you can modify or add to the existing wort. This is a great kit as it is, however. It is a beautiful colour, holds its head well, and has a fruity and hoppy character that I really appreciate. The yeast in the kit seems to be well suited to this style of beer. Since it is the best kit I have made and I really have no complaints, I have to give it a 5 out of 5. Any complaints would be because some just may not like the style.

Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale Cameron W November 11th 2010

Another crappy extract kit

In the tradition of almost all extract kits used as they come, this one is disappointing. Really lacks character in every respect. No maltiness, no hops coming through, no head retention. Only tastes slightly syruppy, which is good for a canned kit, but this will be relegated to cooking and marinating uses only. Not the worst extract kit I have made, and it is drinkable, it's just that there are way better options out there.
Coopers Pilsner Cameron W November 11th 2010

A better than average extract kit

This was perhaps the best extract kit I have made, although it is definitely not up to the flavour levels of a true Czech style Pilsner. Maybe more of a German one. I dry hopped with about 1/2 an ounce shile in the primary, and it tasted smooth after being in the bottle for about a month. Still lacks head retention, but good colour and okay flavour. Would perhaps take this to 4.5 gallons instead of 5, if I make it again. One good thing about the kit is that this seems to be a proper pilsner yeast that is included in the kit, and not just a generic ale yeast.
Morgans Blue Mountain Lager Cameron W November 11th 2010

An okay extract kit

This kit made a decent, drinkable, lager style beer. Nothing extraordinary about though, and I did add extra hops in the primary, as I do with all my extract kits now. Needs a month in the bottle to age. Nothing special, but not awful either. A good average kit for the money.
Pilsner Cameron W November 11th 2010

A very good lighter Pilsner

Although I like this kit, it is not an accurate Czech Pilsner, so think German style. The yeast is a generic ale yeast, I think, and that is part of the problem. The other is that it simply isn't strong enough. Probably a good kit to make at below 5 gallons, however. Overall this is a good drinkable beer that gives you the freshness that only a wort kit can, and it is pleasing to the palate. Has an element of pineapple which I can appreciate. Had a Livotel the night before, and these are not really comparable.
Stout Cameron W November 11th 2010

An excellent stout kit

This was my first Brewhouse kit, and the one that sold me on the brand. This one duplicates the refreshing character of a cold stout, which is the way I like to drink them. The inevitable comparison the Guiness is what is required, and this is reasonably close for a bottle carbonated version. The yeast seems to be well suited to the style, and is very vigorous. Be warned! The overall balance of flavours is fine. No especially upfront characters of chocolate, espresso, or hops, its just all there in a nicely rounded package. Forms a decent fine bubble head that is not as white as guiness, and it doesn't have that slightly sour bite that makes guiness so unique, but it duplicates the brand to about 90%, so I'm happy.
