Used as a base kit - APA

I just sampled a brew I put down a few weeks ago using this kit and I am very happy with the results enough though it is quite young. I was looking to make an APA. I steeped 500 grams light crystal malt for 30 mins (65C) then to the steeped liquid I added water topping it to 5 litres, added a 1.5 kg can of light malt extract into a 20 min boil, 30 grams cascahe at 15, 30 grams cascade at then again 30 grams at flame out. Fermented with 1056 wyeast for 2 weeks then into the bottles (added gelatine 3 days before bottling to the primary fermenter).  I was quite surprised how good it tasted, as good as some of my all grain brews I used to do years ago but a lot less work.

Pretty Good

Brewed this one using BE2 and 12 grams of hallertau hops steeped for 10 mins. Took a while to come good but if you give it time in the bottle it will be nice to drink.

OK!

Brewed with a pre-mixed lager pack from the local HB store. Used the kit yeast and fermented it around 21C. Tired my best to keep it lower but this was a good as I could get. The brew is ok, definately better kits out there but I expect if you use a better yeast, add some malt and hops you'd be on a winner.

Nice Pils

Nice and clean pilsner. My first time using a lager yeast, I used saflager (Supplied with can). I also added 10 grams of saaz hops as a hop tea to the primary fermentor. Fermented at about 10C for 2 weeks, 2 day rest and then cold condition for 2 weeks. Next time I would leave the 10 grams of saaz hops out as it has a grassy taste. otherwise great!

Coopers Canadian Blonde

Coopers Canadian Blonde was the 1st brew I tried and was very surprised at how good it tasted. My 1st attempt, I made it with just the standard 1kg of Coopers brew enhancer 1. The 2nd attempt of this I did with 700g dextrose and 500g dry malt extract. Now sure if the 2nd attempt was better due to the different mix, or if because I had then done a few different beers - All in all, its a great tasting beer.

Black Rock Lager

Hi , Cant believe some of the comments about this lager . Brewed a kit recently , used nothing but basic ingredients ( white household sugar ) and then kegged it up . 8 weeks later I had a very light ( akin to Stella Artois ), clear and crisp lager . As I didnt want a " heavy " brew it was perfect ( have plenty of bitter , brown ale and stout for that ) . Cant see the problem with it . Does what it says on the can .

Outstanding!

Brewed as per instructions. Fermented at 22C for 8 days then bottled. After only 3 weeks in bottled tasted superb. Fellow real ale enthusiasts could not believe it was home brewed (even wanted to inspect the bottles). Slight floral aroma that has mellowed with age. By far the best home brew kit I have tried (and I have tried many)!
Coopers Real Ale doolz January 12th 2012

Amarillo ale

Made this with 1.9kg pale malt grain and 250g of crystal malt grain (cracked then mashed at around 67 c for 100 min). Boiled 14 g of Amarillo with the wort for 10 min, whirlfloc tablet, then mixed in the Real Ale can, cooled and fermented. It only took about 2 days to finish fermenting. Racked it for a week, added 16g of Amarillo from a hop tea 2 days before kegging. Came out great. Awesome aroma, bitterness and flavour from the Amarillo.
Morgans Blue Mountain Lager doolz January 4th 2012

Blue Mountain Partial Mash

500 g LDM 1500g Light Malt Grain (mashed at 67 c) Saflager S23 yeast, 17 g Tasmanian Hallertau hops as a hop tea put in 1 day before kegging/bottling. All up, took about 3 weeks as I kept the fermenting temp at the recommended 12 c using an old tuckerbox freezer and icebricks. Came out really well. Even my mates reckoned it was better than on tap beer, and I agree. The hop tea lent a nice mild aroma and flavour to the beer, which is a pleasing light colour.

So far so good

1 can of c'pers real ale and 1 kg of Brewcraft NZ Draught enhancer. Tried one last night after approx 7 days in the bottle and we have a nice Aussie style beer, good head retention and nice smooth flavour. This cost about $22 NZD all up (for 30 x 750ml) and will definately make again.

Best homebrew kit ever!!

made this using 500g light spraymalt, 500g extra hopped spraymalt and the kit yeast, left in primary for two weeks then moved to secondary for two weeks, tempm range 15.0c, then bottled after month, reccommended that you leave for 12 weeks before drinking, not going to last that long i can tell you, this is the best homebrew kit avaliable in my eyes as im huge on lager, tried most coopers lager kits this is the best tastes like a heineken but better u wont be dissapointed, wolfie kbt scotland dec 11

A nice clear beer making LME

This LME has been used twice now by me, very pleased. Simply put, I've found that this LME gives me a clear and crisp Pil, made enjoyable when chilled. My wort prep included hop additions at ~190℉, and then fermentation at ~75℉ for 14 days. This gave me a clean beer which was thoroughly enjoyed. However, I feel that it is a little to 'light' and far too hoppy for my liking and so I need to investigate my sugar additions. Makes a great beer!

Great Brew

We used the DIY coopers kit, we simply followed instructions as per the supplied DVD, the only thing we did different was accidently fill to 26 litres instead of 23. We were very impressed with the kit coming with everything needed to make a brew. So we used lager + Coopers Brew enhancer 1 and supplied yeast, left for 7days and then bottled, adding two carbonation drops per 740 ml pet bottlers supplied with kit. It brewed at 26c. Cracked one at the one week mark and it was very drinkable, they have now been bottled for about 4 weeks and they are even better, couldnt have asked for an easier or better experience as an intro to brewing than this kit. We have just yesterday put down a coopers canadian blonde, I shall post how that goes.
Coopers Bitter Mark December 2nd 2011

Every Bitter winner

Coopers English Bitter kit. Brewed the kit with 1kg of BE#2, 0.5kg of LDME, kit yeast to 21 litres, primary for 7 days at 20 deg. I have just tasted this after 1 week in secondary with 50% priming and it is delicious. Remarkable colour, good bitterness & head. Smooth as. ABV is about 5%. I could have a good session on these, hope to keep my hands off a few & let them age a bit more!

Good so far

Made this one up as per instructions. It probably stayed in primary for 3 weeks prior to bottling. The SG failed to go any lower than 1020 which was a bit disappointing. I would use Safele SO4 next time round. Anyway, I tried a bottle of this last night - it hadn't really cleared but could tell it was reasonably well carbed. I was very surprised by the taste, delicious and will no doubt get better and better. Would be interested to see what SG's others got with this kit. I didnt take an OG but reckon this is about 5.5% to 6$ alc.
