2nd try,now it got fantastic!

Tried this kit for the 2nd time;first time was ok but it tasted a bit watery. But wanted to give it another try and did some changes in this second batch. Now the beer turned out to be fantastic good.I used the kits ingredients but added 25 gr.citra hops after the 2nd day of fermentation.I left it at room temperatur for 4 days and then moved it for 2 1/2 weeks to a cooler room(16 ' celsius). The first time I brewed it I had a higher fermentation temperature (25 ' celsius)and no extra hops added. This time it got a great consistency and a fantastic fruity taste thanks to the extra hops.

kegged

I made this beer to test an old Boots plastic beer keg I found so I used table sugar and primed the 23 l in the barrel with 120 g of sugar. I'm kicking myself I didn't do it properly as the beer is clear, with a good, stable head but rather thin in flavour. Coopers draught is good base for many variations. It does need to be served cool and the limitation on using the keg is that it can't be put in a fridge.

Has potential

my friends liked it a lot but I didn't. Made it up with 1.5 kg of light malt extract, 500 g of corn sugar and  12 g of saz hops. Came out way too sweet for my taste even though hydrometer was at .016. Seemed to be lacking in hops as well. I blame the yeast on this one. I give it a 3 with potential for 4

Light Easy Drinker

I didn't mind this one, it's very light in colour but has a little more IBU than my standard can (Coopers Pale Ale), I kept it quite simple with 1kg dried malt, 10 grams of saaz and 10 grams of hallartau boiled for 5 mins. Next time I would up tyhe hops a little more to around 20 grams of each but other then that it's a nice kit to make a sudo lager from (or lager if you have the correct ferment temps). NOTE: I did this with wyeast 1-56 american ale yeast.

Not a bad approximation

Since Pilsners are lagers, and this kit is an ale (all the Brew House kits use ale yeast, as far as I know), it's not 100% true-to-style. I ran in to a bit of trouble, as this was my first stab at homebrewing, but that was self-inflicted (not great temperature management).

As a note, if you make this and the fermentation stops early, try adding a pouch of Nottingham yeast. The results might surprise you!

Oh, and I found it did nicely with 110 g of priming sugar, instead of the full 190.

Top Mexican Nelson Hops

Coopers Mexican Cerveza Kit with 1.5kg Maltexo Malt, 500gms Liquid Honey and 30gms Nelson Sauvin hops boiled for 10min in 500ml of water. Fermented 18days @23-25degrees. Bottled and taseted 6 weeks later. Nelson Hops and the honey have a Fantastic flavour and aroma. Great body from the malt. Not much head tho. Even went down well in winter!!

Homebrew Twang

This was my 6th HB kit since re-entering the brewing world after a 4 year break (before then was AG). This kit is the first I have brewed that came with a real defined homebrew twang that I remembered kits to have. The other 5 did not (coopers and morgans). I added 1kg dried malt, 250 grams carahell that was steeped for 30 mins then boiled for 10 mins with the dired malt and 20 grams of saaz hops. I ditched the original yeast and used US-05 which I have used for all kits so far. Taste is rough at best. Won't be using this one again. Sticking with the coopers / morgans kits that I have had great results with. One thing to note is the can was due to expire within the next 4 months, not sure if this had anything to do with it.

Excellent Lager

Brewed using the base recipe but with Saflager S-23 yeast. I fermented at 14C for just over two weeks and raised to 18C for the last couple of days. The result is an easy-drinking lager with honey notes and a pleasant biterness. It has only been in bottles for two weeks, so looking forward to see how it develops... assuming I don't drink it all first.

Morgans Golden Sheaf Wheat Beer Lercha July 20th 2013

One of the Best Wheat Beer Kits.

Gday, done this kit a hand full of times and have never been disappointed. Found it to be nicer than the Black Rock Whispering Wheat, Thomas Coopers Wheat and Mangroves Jacks Barvarian Wheat. I used the Morgans Golden Sheaf Wheat Beer Kit with the Morgans Wheat Liquid Malt Extract, with 10gs of Hersbrucker and Hallertau Hops steeped for 10mins then chucked into fermenter. The brew temps sat around 16 to 18 with S-23 being used sitting for about 2 weeks in fermenter. Had my first taste today after 3 weeks in the bottle and im very impressed but im easily impressed. The head on the beer is consistent with lots of bubbles and very clear with no finnings being used (second glass from long neck head was not as frothy). Tastes crisp and clean with a malty wheat flavour. There is also a hint of the hops in the aroma and after taste. Would be great summer beer.

Just use the kit.

I just used the kit and the yeast it came with. I brewed it with 1.5kg of dextrose  and kept it at 23 Deg C for 6 days and kegged it. Force carbonated it and it turned out very well.

Coopers Mexican Cerveza Robdog July 17th 2013

Excellent summer beer

I've done this kit at least 10 times. I usually use 1.4 kg of dextrose the kit yeast, polyclar and filter it. kegged and force carbonated. I haven't had a bad one yet and guest seem to like it.

Coopers Irish Stout Robdog July 17th 2013

Don't over do the malt

I used the kit and coopers dark malt, 500g DLM and 200g dextrose. Way too much! Turned out like ink with a muddy head and tasted like burnt rope and coffee.

Brown Ale MitchD73 July 16th 2013

Fantastic

I've bought and made two of these kits over the winter and absolutely loved them.  What a deliciously malty beer, well balanced and easy drinking.  I've introduced it to a few people who had never had anything beyond pale lagers and they couldn't get over how approachable it was and how "not dark" it tasted.  I fermented at 18 degree for 1 week and then racked to a secondary for 2 weeks in order to clear it before kegging.

Coopers English Bitter sluggerdog July 8th 2013

Nice for a change.

ESB is not my normal go to beer style but I wanted to try something different. Put this down with 1kg dried malt, 150 grams light crystal steeped for 30 mins and some EK goldings hops boiled for 10 mins with the DME and steeped water.  The end result was a nice tasting beer, almost toffee after taste and easy drinking. Will be doing this one again.

Finest Round Amarillo Pale Ale Fresh Wort DU99 June 27th 2013

Morgans Australian Bitter Adprice June 26th 2013

Not Bad At All

I was given this kit after Black Rock bitter was out of stock at my local home brew store, and the staff recommended it to make up the order. When it arrived I wasn't expecting much, I brewed it with 500gr of Dextrose, 300gr of light malt and 200 gr of dark malt. I tried it after 10 weeks in the bottle and was pleasantly surprised, it was like a crisp clean tasting golden ale. Definitely brewing again.

Black Rock Nut Brown Ale srgwuggles June 19th 2013

Pretty good

Used this with 1kg of regular malt extract 500g of mizuame and 15g of Fuggles. head retention was fantastic and flavor got better and better with time. Only problem was a slight metalic twang in the aftertaste. Dont know what caused it but I still think it was a great beer. Will brew again

Coopers Original Lager srgwuggles June 19th 2013

Ughh.... nasty

my first brew ever. I can still remember the taste. Brewed it per directions using dextrose and my god it came out horrible. Tasted like alcoholic water. No head retention or lasting flavor. It didnt even taste like a beer. I'm all for Coopers, but Im not following those instructions ever again. All malt from here on out.
