Wish i could nail this ...Made kit but it finished way to fast as I had issues with temp control .... was cloudy in bottle and the monthly tastings showed little potential .... now been in bottle for 5 months and has developed nicely ... cloudiness has gone and flavour is good ... have since fixed temperature issues and just did another brew at 12 - 14 degrees finned at 12 days and bottles at 14 .... needs another 2 months in bottle before ready and hope it is as good as I have heard ... will return and up date ... |

Coopers Green neck lager recipeI made this to 21 litres 1 x European Lager kit, 800 g Brew enhancer # 1, 500 g LDME, 1 x Carapils grain pack , 1 x Mangrove Jacks M 84 yeast fermented at 11-12 C. I really love the way this one has turned out at just 20 days test. Great light bitterness and crisp dry finish. Could add hops but I'd rather save them for my Pale Ales and IPA's. Excelent hot day summer drinking light tasting beer. Will definitely do again as it gets warmer. well worth giving a go!

Awesome!!! New Favourite!I made this with a 1kg Mangrove Jacks Lager enhancer and Saflager 34/70 yeast. Fermented at 13 degrees for 3 weeks. 3 weeks in bottle before first sampling. It was very good even at only 3 weeks. I let it sit for a few more weeks before trying another and it was incredible. Move over Heineken!!! Highly reccomended. |

Well, it's been a while now but I feel compelled to come back with the results of my latest EU lager. As previously written I wasn't looking forward to brewing another after my last all malt attempt. So I took my learning from that to l completely experiment on a new brew I thought might work. And it did!
This time I used the kit and kit yeast, DRY ENZYME (yes, I hear those Internet cowboys screaming now..) 300g LLME and 700g dextrose to 25l. I used the dex because last attempt saw what I'd call a ‘nut brown’ ale appearance, which was totally off for the style. Finish seemed to me too thick, aroma too ‘strong’ and tasting notes just too strong and dark for an EU lager.
This brew was brewed @ 13 degrees for 4 weeks and has been bottled for 5 days (yea, bit short of the 3 months; I know!) I tried a 3 month old I'd kept just a few weeks ago and it did taste better than I remember so there's definitely something to it. But tasting notes so far are: Great color and clarity, fantastic ‘look’ upon opening and drinking (head looks like a store bought beer with beautiful tiny bubbles making a nice ‘froth’ not the slightly larger bubbles forming head I see brewing most other beers, nose is ‘fresh’ much what you'd expect of a store bought lager, taste? Oh my… wow is all I can say. This one went down quicker than anything I've ever made before, left me tounging for another! But it's only 11am, soooo.. mouthfeel at 1.002fg?.. bloody excellent, I'd never guess in a million years the beer finished that dry without proof of hydro. I'm off to order more enzyme and a few more cans! Happy brewing EDIT, Just been through my brewing notes and I actually used 500g brew sugar, not 700g dex. With figures lile that I'd say everything fermented out to 100% attenuation bar the malto (Coopers brew sugar has maltodextrin mixed in) SG/OG was 1.040 so 5.4% in the bottle Cheers |

Lager yeast
I brewed this kit twice, first with NZ enhancer no 60 that was very good with Mangrove Jack's Munich Lager, second time 2 Coopers Eu Lager kit toped up to 25l. The second was better, good body that's sure. Briefly: if you are a budget brewer who try to brew Lagers with kits own yeast, this will be your best brew. Simply because this kit has lager yeast, and other lager kits come with ale yeast (any brand I have seen). On the other hand I do not think this kit has the potential to make a really good beer.
I do appreciate Coopers was brave enough to supply this yeast with this kit. Hope other companies will follow this practice. |

A perfectly good lager styleAs with most Coopers kits, this is a good, workmanlike beer. I brewed it with Safale S04 ale yeast and 1kg Brew Booster (Dextrose, Maltodextrin, Light Malt) and added one of those 12g bags of Saaz hop. These kits are ALL really quite underhopped and I didn't improve it noticeably with only 12g of hops. Next time I would add 50g - at least 2g for every litre of brew. I let it bottle condition for two months and it was crisp and satisfying, although of course not as aromatic as I hoped because of the lack of hops to start with. I recommend this kit. |

Pretty GoodBrewed this one using BE2 and 12 grams of hallertau hops steeped for 10 mins. Took a while to come good but if you give it time in the bottle it will be nice to drink. |

Best homebrew kit ever!!made this using 500g light spraymalt, 500g extra hopped spraymalt and the kit yeast, left in primary for two weeks then moved to secondary for two weeks, tempm range 15.0c, then bottled after month, reccommended that you leave for 12 weeks before drinking, not going to last that long i can tell you, this is the best homebrew kit avaliable in my eyes as im huge on lager, tried most coopers lager kits this is the best tastes like a heineken but better u wont be dissapointed, wolfie kbt scotland dec 11 |

Good quafferTried this for the first time recently with just the kit and Be2. As a kit and kilo it give you a crisp easy drinking beer great for a hot day. It does lack some hop character. Will try this again with 100g Carapils steeped 30 mins and some saaz and hallertau. Another great kit! |

A cold temperature brew1 can made up to 20 l with a bag of BE2 and a Hallertau finishing hops teabag steeped for 5 minutes then added to the wort. A cold Melbourne winter took the average temperature to about 13 deg and took the brew time to 4 weeks. 3 months later it's tasting great with a nice nutty taste. OG 1044 FG 1012 |

Coopers european lagerI,ve brewed this one on and off over the year using different brew enhancers and finishing hops. All with vareing sucsses. Overall this is a good kit to use as a base for both lagers/ales, but in its true form of recomended mix it can be a dit dull and lacking in hop finish. It reminds me of Coopers All Malt Lager in consertrate form for us to do at home. Either way this is a fool proof kit that gives you a 50-50 chance of liking it. |

Needs workBrewed on 26 Dec 2009. Used the kit, BE2, 1oz of Saaz for 5 min and Saflager S23.Racked to secondary on 22 Jan 2010, kegged 5 US gallons and bottled five 22oz longnecks. Tapped the keg in early March. Wonderful clarity and a nice head, but otherwise nothing special. The Saaz disappeared. I blame my method for that - next time, I'll just chuck them in to the FV. Think I'll use XLT DME too. I good kit to experiment with. Must not have been too bad though, cuz the keg just went empty yesterday! Ah, the price of "research"!! |

RefreshingTried it because I lived in Holland and drank Grolsch. Not a bad impersonation of the style. Used tin with 500g LDM, 250 maltodextrins, 250 glucose. Added a tea from 14g Hersbrucker hop plug (steeped 10 min) for aroma. Sg 1038, brewed 3 wk at 14C. Needs a good 3 mths in the bottle. Very crisp & refreshing; not much character or finish but who needs that on a hot evening? |

Strong Lagerkit + 1.5kg Light liquid malt + 0.5kg Coopers BE2(half the bag)+ 12g Hallertau teabag steeped 10mins and supplied yeast pitched at 20C. Made to 23L, kept under 18C the whole time closer to 16C for 15days, bulkprimed with 160g dex. Very very pleased with it. Great aroma, no "homebrewy" flavour but you'd need to watch the temp. 6% and am planning to do another again soon! |

Coopers European LagerI made this one up using 500g LDME, 250g dextrose and 250g maltodextrin. Also 12g Hallertau boiled for 20min and one at flameout. It came out a simple, crisp lager with a medium-light body. Would be good for a hot day, but I'd heavily suggest just using a kilo of malt and then dry hopping a few days into the ferment. 4 star kit, 3 star brew. |
