Really good PilsnerSteeped 100g of Carapils for 30 minutes, dissolved 1kg of pilsner enhancer then the tin of MJ CZ Pilsner and 100g or maltodextrin. Into fermenter to 24L and Saflager 34/70 yeast. Fermented for 3 weeks at 13 degrees. 4 weeks in bottle before sampling, the beer is nice and crisp with a dry finish. Nice nice and malty, with a lingering bitterness. Some quite fruity notes too. I am no beer expert, but this tastes better than any commercial Pilsner I've brought recently. Will definitely make this one again. |

Bitter asI brewed it with NZ No62 Czech Pilsner enhancer, 400g glucose syrup and S-23 Yeast. ~23l Ps: I'm glad we can edit our reviews. I've just had an other bottle last night. 5month after bottling it is a hopy but well balanced beer. Very good head retantion. |

Homebrew TwangThis was my 6th HB kit since re-entering the brewing world after a 4 year break (before then was AG). This kit is the first I have brewed that came with a real defined homebrew twang that I remembered kits to have. The other 5 did not (coopers and morgans). I added 1kg dried malt, 250 grams carahell that was steeped for 30 mins then boiled for 10 mins with the dired malt and 20 grams of saaz hops. I ditched the original yeast and used US-05 which I have used for all kits so far. Taste is rough at best. Won't be using this one again. Sticking with the coopers / morgans kits that I have had great results with. One thing to note is the can was due to expire within the next 4 months, not sure if this had anything to do with it. |
