Made
this with 1.9kg pale malt grain and 250g
of crystal malt grain (cracked then
mashed at around 67 c for 100 min).
Boiled 14 g of Amarillo with the wort
for 10 min, whirlfloc tablet, then mixed
in the Real Ale can, cooled and
fermented. It only took about 2 days to
finish fermenting. Racked it for a week,
added 16g of Amarillo from a hop tea 2
days before kegging. Came out great.
Awesome aroma, bitterness and flavour
from the Amarillo.
500 g LDM 1500g Light Malt Grain (mashed
at 67 c) Saflager S23 yeast, 17 g
Tasmanian Hallertau hops as a hop tea
put in 1 day before kegging/bottling.
All up, took about 3 weeks as I kept the
fermenting temp at the recommended 12 c
using an old tuckerbox freezer and
icebricks. Came out really well. Even
my mates reckoned it was better than on
tap beer, and I agree. The hop tea lent
a nice mild aroma and flavour to the
beer, which is a pleasing light colour.
Brewed using the instructions on the
can/Cooper's website. I also added a
hop tea of 12 gms of Summer Saaz
pellets. This makes a very smooth easy
drinking ale which improves with age.
Can't really fault it and would
definitely make this one again.
Made as per Coopers instructions using
500g LDM and 300g dextrose. Used the
Coopers yeast, which is a lager yeast. I
only made the volume up to about 20
litres. It fermented at around 15
degrees centigrade for 12 days then I
racked it to another container for 3
days then added a hop tea made up of 21g
of Saaz pellets steeped in boiled water
for 10 minutes. I kegged it after 3 more
days and tried it 3 days later. It is
fantastic beer. The aroma and flavour
from the Saaz is delicious. This will be
my house beer unless I stumble across
something better. 5 stars. Next time I
will make the full 23 litres and try all
malt.
1/2 and 1/2 1 kg + 200g Glucose (Corn
Syrup)
17g Saaz steeped for 10 minutes in a cup
of boiled water added after 4 days
Fermented at 24 degrees
Very good basic beer, just a nice touch
of bitterness. A little cloudy to start
with. I don't think I racked it for
long enough. But this doesn't affect
the taste.
I kegged it for 24 hours and tried it.
It tasted great. Better than the Coopers
Pale Ale. Definitely worth doing again.
Made with Brew Enhancer 2 and the yeast
supplied with the kit. Fermented at
around 26 Degrees Centigrade for 7 days
then racked to another fermenter for 4
days before kegging. My first ever
kegged beer. I also bottled 4 longnecks
(about 22 litres in total). A nice m
alty brew with good head retention and
foam sticks to the side of the glass.
Must have been good because it was all
gone within a few weeks with some help
from my mates. Would be happy to make
it again, but I am off to try others
