Two Can NirvanaThis can be a great brew, but the trick is to use 2 can's at the same time. Fill to 24ltr's and use a better ( Munton's Gold ) Yeast. Ferment at 20C and left in keg for two weeks. Fairly dark but great head retention. Heaps of taste. The only slightly disapointing thing is the aroma, maybe a finishing hop would have sorted that out. Very good value for a great beer though. |

Reasonable, drinkableCan, 250grams Coopers Light Dry Malt,500grams Coopers Brew Enhancer 2. Used supplied yeast. Brewed at 24 degrees using warmer. Starting SG 1028 bottled at two weeks on 4 May 07. SG 1010. Aim to get a mid strength quaffer with a little more flavour. Drank after 8 weeks in bottle. Not bad. My mate rated as just good enough, any better I wouldn't give it to him amd any worse he wouldn't drink it. Will add review notes after 6 mnths in bottle. |

Cheap & DrinkableSaw this on special for $8.50 at the supermarket so I thought I'd give it a go. Made to instructions with 1kg Coopers BE2 and 500g LDME and kit yeast (now 7g). Fermented at 20c for 6 days, kegged and left for 1 week. Surprisingly it's quite drinkable but it's not going to win any awards. Not a huge amount of flavour but the head retention is good so perhaps a good one to give to the beer swilling mates instead of the good stuff. Worth doing for the price but I'd probably use all malt for the next one. |

Not really greatI have brewed this twice, but it follows the limitations of most Toohey's kits. The extract is not bad but the woefully inadequate supply of yeast with Toohey's kits (5g) it makes for poor beers without plenty of time in the bottle. First was the Toohey's can and 1kg of liquid malt. At 3 mths it was drinkable but only as a quaffer after the tastebuds had already died. Second time around added 500g Coopers Dark malt, 500g Invert sugar and 2 sachets of the yeast. Not a bad dark ale at 3 mths. |
