Tooheys Dark AleFirst brewed in Sept 08, straight from the can with 1kg dextrose and supplied yeast. Kept temp up as advised with an internal heater set close to 28c. Was surprised it was all fermented within 7 days with not much fuss. Bottled it in plastic and waited 2 months. First tasted it in Nov 08 and it was very much like a light Old sweetish style. began chaging after new years, lost sweetness and becasme more like a stout, boys liked it better. |

Good StuffMade with 500g of DME (Liquid) and 500g of Dextrose. Boiled DME and 15g of Fuggles for 10 mins. Added everything to fermenter. After only 3 weeks in the bottle it tastes brilliant. Can't wait to see what it is like in a few months. |

SurpisingI brewed a can of this (on sale at Bi-Lo for $6.99) and added 1kg of amber liquid malt extract. I was extremely surprised with the result! Very pleasant to drink. |

Excellent Tooheys Old CloneI love tooheys old and ever since starting to brew have been trying to do a beer that is as close as possible to the original, and this one is as close as I could hope to get. I do this kit with a brewcraft stout booster pack (75% malt extract, 25% maltodextrin) and safale s-04 yeast, 18-24 ideal temp. Turns out great! |

Toohey Dark AleI like Tooheys Old and I find Tooheys Dark Ale with Coopers Enhancer makes a very close immatation. 18 to 22 degrees let it brew long and then sit for another week before bottling, great drop with a meal, everyone who tries it likes it. |

Dark GoodnessUnremarkable but a good base for additional ingredients. This one was made with 20g of Goldings, 500 Dry light Malt, 250 Maltodextrin, 250 Dex. Worth the effort but would choose the Coopers Dark Ale over this one worth the extra $2. |

Good StuffMade this can using the kit yeast, 500g of Dark DME and Brewiser Ultrabrew (500g Light DME, 250g dextrose, 250g maltodextrin) brewed at 18-20*C for just over a week. Primed and bottled, secondary for 1 week and aged for 5 - came up a treat. Beautiful taste with a good hint of burnt flavour, nice carbonation, great finely beaded head. Will definitely make this again, possibly with a SAFale yeast to see what the difference is since I've heard Tooheys kit yeasts arent the best. |

Great BlackPut brew down in February using 600g od Dry dark malt and 400g of maltodectrin (sold as stout mix by Country Brewer) using yeast supplied with mix. Bulk primed and let mature in bottles for 8 weeks. Still needed more time as had very course head. Tried again after 12 weeks and what an improvement! Nice fine bead in creamy head, smooth taste and every bit as good as Tooheys Old. Exceptional brew and have put down again with Liquid Chocolate Malt |

Just like Tooheys OldBrewed at Xmas using 750g of Dextrose. Had problems with extreme temperatures and had to add ice to brew to save it. Beer turned out very pleasant and very similar to Tooheys Black from the tap. Have since put down 2 more brews with 600g of dark dry maly anmd 400g of corn starch and one with 1kg of liquid chocolate malt. Will post ressults of these when tasted. |
