Add HabaneroReally great taste and balance! Infused 500g of Caramalt, then boiled mash adding: 1kg of mdme @20, 20g each of amarillo/cascade @45, kit lme @15 and Irish Moss and 1 chopped habanero @10. Used FermS-04. 14 days in primary, 5 days in secondary with 10g of same hop mix. Fermented @20-22oC the whole time. Primed with table sugar and bottled in 500L bottles. Was ready to consume in a week, with good head retention. Taste: Excellent malt/hop balance with a slight habanero sting at the end of the mouthful. Lips start to feel the habanero sting by mid-glass. Very pleasant experiment. Getting sweeter as aging. Will probably add more hops and maybe one more pepper next time to counter this. Give it a try. |

Kit & KiloKit & kilo, no mods, out the tin, add the sugar and you are away. Three weeks later, out of the bottle. It's a fine pint. There is the very slight acidic zing that comes from adding all of that sugar relative the malt extract but other than that, it's fine. There are no major roasty flavours, it's wet, fizzy, tastes of beer. I would rather drink this than a lot of commercial beers out there on the supermarket shelves. It is not a universe stopper, a perfectly fine session beer but considering the price and the ease of use, what more could you want? For me, the kit gets a five star because it does "what it says on the tin" so to speak ... it's cheap, easy to use and the results are reasonable, if not mind-blowing. And it still works out far cheaper than those beers you'll find in the stores ... |

great beerI use 3# dry dark spray malt. Fermented at 20 C 78 F. Charged with 5 oz. corn sugar. It makes a great rich smooth beer. |

Muntons Nut Brown AleMixed the Nut Brown ale as specified on instructions and used 1 kg of light malt extract. Put fermenter on heat pad. The brew started to turn over after 11 hours and bubble every 2 seconds for 48 hours. Kept constant temp of around 25 dgrees for 7 days. Used brow/raw sugar in the large 750ml glass bottles. Came out at treat, almost the best homebrew ever. |

My tweaksI added only 1.5lb Muntons dark spraymalt, 1 teaspoon Maldon sea salt (my attempt at water treatment). Result: about 3.8 alcohol, so bouncy-castle stuff, subtly moreish. And a teeny tang of the sea. |

very darkBrewed at 20 deg C with English Ale yeast and a bucketful of extra malts and grains as a big brew day project. Beer came out fantastic, but kit was darker than expected and ended more like a Dark ale or Porter than a Nut Brown. The fine print does say 90-100 ebc. Makes good tasting beer though. |
