Munton's Gold IPAFor a premium kit, this is quite honestly rubbish. The brew was done according to the instructions and I even left it a good six weeks to condition in the keg. At the end, a disappointing watery brew with almost no hop character and very little malt character to boot , insipid, tasteless, uninspiring ... nothing like an IPA at all. If you like real ale and particularly beer with character then give this one a miss. If you are looking for generic supermarket beer out of a tin, this might suit you ! |

Honey AleInto 1 can of the 2-can kit went a jar of Devon moorland honey, intense in taste. Simple, but after a couple of months' keeping all sweetness had been elinated, leaving a taste of honey without that sweetness of commercial honey beers. |

Too timid for a real IPAVery smooth but Muntons took the soft option by under-bittering it and not insisting on a higher alcohol percentage. The Coopers, ESB and James Squire IPAs are all superior. |

decent brewBrewed at 18 deg C with 2 gold kit yeasts and added a full 1.5 kg bittered tin of light malt to get higher ranks version that is truly 'all malt'. A fine drop, though a bit underdone on the hops for an IPA. The kit on it's own doesn't get anywhere near the concentration of a real IPA at 6% plus. Suggest make the kit in about 15 litres. |

NiceMade to instructions (Troops version) but with Muntons Premium Gold yeast. A very nice drop. Lots of English hops aroma and flavour but not overdone, medium amber colour, full malty taste. Not bitter enough for a true IPA (IBUs in the low 20's) but very drinkable regardless. Recommended. |
