Blue Mountain Partial Mash500 g LDM 1500g Light Malt Grain (mashed at 67 c) Saflager S23 yeast, 17 g Tasmanian Hallertau hops as a hop tea put in 1 day before kegging/bottling. All up, took about 3 weeks as I kept the fermenting temp at the recommended 12 c using an old tuckerbox freezer and icebricks. Came out really well. Even my mates reckoned it was better than on tap beer, and I agree. The hop tea lent a nice mild aroma and flavour to the beer, which is a pleasing light colour. |

An okay extract kitThis kit made a decent, drinkable, lager style beer. Nothing extraordinary about though, and I did add extra hops in the primary, as I do with all my extract kits now. Needs a month in the bottle to age. Nothing special, but not awful either. A good average kit for the money. |

Don’t believe the hype! After brewing Morgan’s Scharl’s Lager and Bishops Bitter and reading so many glowing reviews, I was VERY disappointed with this one! Brewed to 20 litres with 500 grams of LDME, 500 grams of dextrose, Hersbrucker hops and Saflager yeast, 2 weeks primary and racked 2 weeks secondary at a constant 10 to 12 Celsius. Took forever to bottle carbonate at room temp (close to 8 weeks), cold conditioned for another further 6 weeks and it still tasted like nothing! Would not compare it to any commercial brands as it didn’t even taste like beer let alone a lager! Turned out almost as dark as a Newcastle brown ale and tasted like hoppie, carbonated water (and I added the hops!). |

Blue Mountains with Lager YeastFirst try with the BML after many recommendations. Brewed can with BE1, 12g of Saaz hops (steeped in hot water then all in) and S-189 Swiss Lager Yeast. Fermented at 12degC for about three weeks. Took about 2 months to carb up and mature. Nice light colour, good head retention and fine bubbles. Quite floral on the nose, no detectable sulphur. Nice dry palate with a vague hint of sweet malt aftertaste. Overall a nice summer beer and a good intro into lager beers. Make sure you use some extra hops as it may be bland without? |

Morgans Blue Mountain LagerI brewed this with 600g LDME at 12 deg.C for 3 weeks using Saflager 23 yeast. I added 21 litres of water and dry hopped with 12g Saaz hops. I also steeped 150g of crystal grain at 68 deg for 30 mins. I am now drinking this beer after a month of bottle conditioning. At the moment this beer is a little too malty sweet for my liking, although some more time in the bottle may help attenuate this. Next time I will add 600g dextrose and use 34/70 yeast to try to get a dryer finish, and perhaps add 22-23 litres of water. Also the crystal grain may be optional. Overall however, a tasty beer with good head retention and flavour! |

Morgans Blue Mountain LagerI used the stock yeast @ 18'C and added 500g LDME and 300g Dextrose, made to 22L. Came out as a clean, light bodied beer with a hint of floral aroma (just a hint) and a crisp bitterness. Just the thing for those hot summer afternoons. Nothing flash, but definitely a good kit. 4 stars. |

Honest and EasyI have made this a couple of times using both saflager yeast and the supplied yeast. Use 'Blend 15' from Brew Shop, which is same as BE2. Forget the saflager as the supplied yeast actually supplied a nicer crisper flavour. Excellent value and easy to make. Good honest beer with no bells or whistles. Easy to drink and a good replacement for a CUB or Tooheys lager/draught. |

Great stuffMade this up with a kilo of Extra-Light DME and kit yeast, no additional hops, to develop a base for future variations. May not bother with changing anything the next time. This is great stuff. Primary fermentation for 3 weeks at about 12C, in keg for about 2 weeks at the same temp or a bit lower, 2 weeks in refrig at 1.5C. Already very, very drinkable, I imagine it'll just get better. The only problem is that it's so hard to get here in the US - I had to order in on-line from Canada and the shipping makes it expensive. If anyone iin the US can give me a source here, please do!! Use the e-mail listed - thanks. |

Boags Premium CloneMade up to a recipe found on Dave's Home Brew Site. 1 Tin BML, 700g Dextrose, 250g Light Dry Malt and 250g Maltodextrin (you can use a Coopers Brew Enhanser 2 and 200g extra dextrose).Steep a tea bag of POR finishing hops and add just before yeast, use the yeast that comes with the tin. Brewed at 24 degrees for 6 days. After 2 weeks of bottle conditioning at 20 degrees this already tastes fantastic. Will certainly brew again. |

Who drank all my beer.Brewed with 500g dex 500g LDME can yeast. Kegged after 2 weeks in primary. After 2 weeks in the keg the clarity and taste was much improved. The best beer of my short HB career to date. The 19 ltr keg was dry after 1 week. Time to make another one. |

a great canAfter over 25 batches of kit beer I can say that the Blue Mountain is the best and most relaible that I know of. I always use the can yeast, but have varied hops and grains and never had a bum batch. In my latest batch use Saaz plus Goldings hops 12g each, steeped in thermos for 10 mins, and crystal malt steeped 20 mins to produce a darker, yet more complex beer. It's a winner. |

not badBrewed using kit, 1kg LDME, 25g Hallertau MF and Saflager. After two weeks it was ok, but still fairly immature. 6 weeks later its improved out of sight, but still needs another month or so. Great drop, good can for experimenting |

Best By Far1 can of BLM, #15 brew booster(250g corn syrup,250g Malt. 500g Dextrose). Added 500g L.D.M plus 1 brewiser hop bag(12g)in 300ml of boiling water for 10 minutes and 2.7 ltr of boiling water(was winter). Bottled after 9 days OG-1072, FG-1014 alc 8.27%. This beer was head and shoulders over anything i have made..and was all drunk in 3 days , without being to heady..it bubbled its head off in the glass for ever..seen nothing like it..and the taste was like a premium tassie beer..fantastic. |

Great Summer BeerBrewed using 2 stage fermentation. (6 + 8 days). Dry hopped with Hallertau in secondary. Apart from low carbonation, it turned out a very nice drop indeed. Very much a summer beer. Will do again. (Carbonation issue was due to not bulk priming with enough dextrose) 1kg Morgans Master Blend Lager extract malt for the fermentables. Also used the kit yeast. |

Time Is of The EssenceCan of morgans blue mountain lager, 600g dex, 250g light malt brew improver, 250g wheat malt brew improver, 12g hallertau and done s-23. Boiled all fermentables besides the kit for 10 minutes, added hops five minutes before flameout and mixed the kit at flameout. Water bathed and cooled to 20 degrees then yeast was pitched. Fermented for around 3 weeks and came out with a beautiful crean crisp lager at 5.3%, beer needs at least a month in the bottle before drinking but only gets better with age. Will definatley do again. Cheers |

Consistently Great BeerCan of 'Bluey', 500 gms light spray malt and 500 dex. Boil for 5 mins, add 12 gms Hallertau, slow boil for 10 mins. Strain into fermenter with the kit, add 1 tea bag of hersbrucker finishing hops, same yeast, or Saflager S 23 is great, but only in the winter, were you can keep it below 18 degrees. This beer is PERFECT with just dextrose and no malt or hops everytime, but if you like an aromatic lager with a bit more hop, then go the extra. |

Nothing Blue About ThisAh. Morgan's Blue Mountain. Best Home Brew lager on the market. Nuff said. What I like about Morgan's is they're unpretentious (take note, Malt Shovel!). Must go with the Queensland territory. Try it with a proper lager yeast. But even with the kit yeast it's OK, although really more a dinner ale than a proper lager. A good Aussie tradition, dinner ales! Why would you want to risk it with imported lagers that have spent 3 months in a container on a dock in Dubai when you can have this fresh from the local maker? (No, they don't employ me, but I'm open to offers) One of my few unqualified recommendations. (Not a "great" beer, mind you, but consistent and drinkable. No mean feat in homebrewland). |

top brewMixed this one up with 1kg can of Morgans Pale Malt, the supplied yeast, and dry-hopped with 15g cascade. Initially thought the cascade was a mistake, as it turned a great tasting beer into an okay tasting beer, but it still tastes fantastic. I gave some to a lady friend yesterday and she couldn't get enough of it, Even turning down the heinekens in favour for it! |

OutstandingWow! Very impressed with this one. Brewed very simply with Ultra Boost: Malto dextrose/Dextrose/Lt Malt and Saflager s24 at about 17 degrees for 13 days. Resulted in a lovely crisp clean beer, could be improved with some finishing hops. Will definitly be doing this one again. |

blue mountain bitterUsed as a base for experimentation as I knew it was a quality product from other reviews. Added caramalt LME and Cooper's dme in a boil with contents of kit & some Hallertau pellets for flavouring. Aiming for a Vienna style lager, but I fermented with Cooper's ale yeast cultured from the bottle. Cold conditioned for 1 week to help yeast settle, then I didn't get 'round to bottling for c. 6 weeks. Result: Beautiful, delicate amber bitter. My most successful brew yet. |

Heineken CloneOne of the first brews i made, follwoing a recipe from the HBS Morgans Blue Moutina lager, 1kgs brew booster 12g hallertau finishing hops (boil in the bag for 10 mins). Pitched the can yeast at 24-25c brewed for 7 days and direct to bottle primed with carb. drops. Absolutley beautiful, will make again. Was nice after 2 weeks but improved greatly after 6-8 weeks. Trying to save a few to condition further but may have to put another down beofre all this lots gone. In a word excellent. |

Blue Mountain beautyVery nice kit beer, used supplied yeast & 1kg brew booster. 1 week in primary then split batch half was cold conditioned for 2 weeks other half bottled. Cold conditioning improved greatly, beer gets better as it matures, has a pineapple flavour when green but disappers over time. This beer got me hooked on home brew. Addition of hops would improve. |

Nice crisp lagerThis was the second brew I did. I just did the can + a Country Brewer 1kg Brew Booster (500g Dextrose/250g Maltodextrin/250 g Light Malt) and used the kit yeast. Ferment temp was about 22 - 24 and it still turned out OK. Nice taste, clean drinking beer. Goes very well with seafood. Seems to make cold prawns taste even sweeter! Will try this again but use 1kg malt and add some hops for a bit more aroma. |
