AverageMade to specs with dry yeast, took a long time to ferment due to cooling temps. It's OK, it's not a bad beer, but I guess it's me and I am not a huge fan of the taste, hence the "average". Unless you've done all the other masterbrews and that's the last one you want to try, pick something else, in my opinion. |

Lovely quaffing aleMy first Grumpys brew & despite my trepidation of boiling the specialty grains (as per the instructions) this was a very pleasent ale indeed. I made it with Thames yeast & dry hopped with 2 plugs of goldings. I personally prefer a touch more bitterness - & if made with a more highly bittered extract I reckon it would get 5 stars... |

A Golden DropThis is a fantastic pack - made to masterbrew specs - 23l with wyeast 1056 - week in primary, week in secondary at 18deg. Rough specs were OG 1051 - FG 1014 - bulk primed with around 150g sucrose. Just a perfectly balanced beer - colour of golden syrup. This is my mainstay beer. Wonderful mouthfeel and balance. Outstanding whether drinking cold (3-4 deg) or slightly warmer (around 9 or 10). I'll always have one of these going in the background whilst experimenting with other Grumpys gear. |
