Best one yetDid this with stock yeast, enhancer 2 ,500 g dextrose. 21 litres water. Dried hopped with 20 g Galaxy and 20 g nelson sav hops. Outcome is amazing just the right amount of bitterness and fruity favour. Just as good as a craft beer from your local brewery at a fraction of the price. Im doing this one again . Maybe some more hops and addition of honey. |

Not for me thanks.Normally I do a recipe to the supplied instructions before reviewing. This time I skipped over, using MJ ale yeast, wheat malt and dry hopping with EKG in addition to the booster, as I figured the apparently large fan base of Real Ale made it a sure winner. Nope. By the time it had aged sufficiently to lose the awful iso hop taste which initially dominated the flavour, the EKG had long faded and the wheat malt was stale. No doubt a recipe fail, but I cant disguise my disappointment in this kit from any angle. Coopers do a wide range with some great entries, so I put this down to it being a budget end kit for beer lovers with -er- different tastes. Probably would be ok just doing the basic recipe and ageing a few months. But that would be a bit dull, right? |

Not BadBrewed this with its sold yeast and dextrose. Brewed well, result good carbonation refreshing, inoffensive but fairly dull. Good for the money but the sort of beer that I lose interest with and not one you sit there and look forward to. Probably better with a Safale yeast |

Great BeerBrewed with 1 kg LDM and kit yeast ....finned after 10 days bottled after 14 day ... SG 1040 FG 1006 .... has a great deep rich amber brown colour and creamy white lingering head ... smooth malty taste with nice hint of hop ... highly recommend as it is easy and tastes great ... commercial beer drinkers love it ... |

Cooper Ale reviewFound a kit in the garage which was 4 years past its best before date. Took up a challenge to make a palatable. Ingredients: 1 x coopers real ale kit, 500g Amber malt (DRY), 300g dextrose, 500ml honey, 300g Crystal grain (Steeped) , 300g oats (Mashed), 20g SAAZ hops (Steeped), 20g cascade dry hopped), M44 mangrove jacks yeast. Added water to make 23l Fermented in the primary for 10 days. Bulked primed with dextrose. Bottled conditioned for 4 weeks. Very good result and was surprised the flavour of the hops very pronounced. already have another one of these down as all of my freind prefered this over the 10 batches i have the beer fridge. |

My favouriteHave brewed a few times now, first one had an after-taste as the fermentation temperature was too high. Have since had great results brewing at 18 degrees using us05 yeast and BE2. Dependable results and always popular with the commercial beer drinking friends. Latest one in the fermenter has hop additions and smells fantastic. A high quality, cost effective brew. |

Coopers Real AleI have been making Coopers Real Ale for the last 5 year, and every time it just seems to get better. I dont change must from whats in the kit in the way of the malt of brewing sugar but I do add a extra 500gs of liquid 500g glucose. at a starting temp of 25 degs c my SG is 1040 before I pitch my yeast. Ferment time I around 5 days as our house is at a temp of 24 degs all year round FG is at 1.000 giving me a beer of around a 5.2% Al vol. I bottle in 750 mls PET bottles with 2 carbon drops per bottle. Secondery fermentation is done in a dark warm second stage fermantation box for 12 days. After 12 days it is aged on a shelve for 2 to 3 monthslonger if needed. I will test sample 1 bottle once a month to get it to how I like it. With adding the 500g glucoses I have it give my beer a full body and a very smooth hop taste. When chilled to 4 degs and poured at the end of the pour there is a creamy head of around 25mm in the glass. Many of my friends enjoy this beer and there wives also. |

Very nice - reminds me of De KoninckJust made this with 500g LDME and 500g glucose/dextrose. Fermented using kit yeast at 20 degrees (temp controlled using fridge and STC-1000), only took a week or so. Brewed slightly short to 22 liters. After 2 weeks in the bottle (5g/l bottling sugar) already very enjoyable indeed! Fruity but with a malty mouthfeel, well carbonated, decent lacing, not very bitter, easy drinking. Reminded me of Belgian (Antwerp) beer "De Koninck". Very curious to see how this turns out in a month or two - but I'm unsure if I can leave them for that long...
Edit 21 Nov: We're a few weeks later now and I'm happy to say this has evolved into an even nicer, very stable beer. Once again, top quality from Coopers! |

Un-real Ale!I have made this kit a couple of times now and I will continue to go back for it. The only thing that I have done aside from the normal instructions was to steep 2C of honey malt for about 40 min and add it to the original mix. I find that this adds a really nice subtle honey note to it. The I have found that with this kit you can drink it after 2 weeks of conditioning but it only gets better with time so I suggest leaving it for at least 4 weeks before drinking and more if you can. When I brew it I start it at 26 degrees and put it on a Copper Tun which tends to lower it to 24 degrees over the span of about 2 days. If you are looking for a hoppy ale you will have to do some additions for sure but if you want an easy drinking ale this is it. |

Original Ale1.7kg Coopers Real Ale, 1kg Coopers Brew Enhancer 2, supplied yeast. Fermented it at around 25 degrees for 2 weeks, at the end of week 2 I added Gelatin and put the fermenter in the fridge to drop the sediment. It came out really clear with little to no cloudiness. This was my first homebrew and stoked with the outcome ready to drink after 2 weeks bottle conditioned, really good tasting beer.

Coopers Unreal Ale1.7kg Coopers Real Ale, 1kg Coopers Brew Enhancer 1, 500g Coopers Light Dry Malt and the supplied yeast. OG – 1047 FG – 1010 Alch 4,86% + 0,5% = 5,36% Lovely beer – kept bottles standing up and left alone while conditioning some turned out a wee bit cloudy. This was a fantastic brew though and I will definitely try it again and perhaps add some finings to deal with the cloudy issue and may try a hops to add to the smell and flavour. |

Amarillo aleMade this with 1.9kg pale malt grain and 250g of crystal malt grain (cracked then mashed at around 67 c for 100 min). Boiled 14 g of Amarillo with the wort for 10 min, whirlfloc tablet, then mixed in the Real Ale can, cooled and fermented. It only took about 2 days to finish fermenting. Racked it for a week, added 16g of Amarillo from a hop tea 2 days before kegging. Came out great. Awesome aroma, bitterness and flavour from the Amarillo. |

So far so good1 can of c'pers real ale and 1 kg of Brewcraft NZ Draught enhancer. Tried one last night after approx 7 days in the bottle and we have a nice Aussie style beer, good head retention and nice smooth flavour. This cost about $22 NZD all up (for 30 x 750ml) and will definately make again. |

Cooper RealOur first Home brew made with Coopers Original Real Ale and Brew Enhancer 2. Fermented at 19 to 20 with kit yeast. At day 10 we put it in the fridge with gelatin then chilled it down to close to zero for 4 days. We then kegged and sampled. Surprisingly good considering how little conditioning was done. Pretty clear. Tastes a bit too bitter and a little thin on the mouth but is quite drinkable. We probably "over-carbonated" so we are getting a lot of head |

Real MaltyI brewed mine according to the Real Malty Ale recipe on the Coopers Brew Sugar box. 1x Real Ale kit 1kg Coopers Brewing Sugar 500g Coopers Light Dry Malt The name says it all REAL Malty, very good brew for my second attempt. Since this I have tried a 60 minute boil kit, considering the amount of time these Coopers kits take, they are all 4 out of 5 stars! |

This is REAL ALEBrewed this Coopers real ale with Coopers #2BE,25g of Goldings hops steeped in the can wort for 15min topped up to 23L added 2 packets of Coopers yeast and fermented for 10 days, kegged and enjoyed after 2 weeks in the fridge. What a ripper of a brew, clears well tastes smooth and it is much better than James Squires amber ale. May use some grain or extra LDM for more mouth feel. |

Unreal AleFirst time I've made thi skit. Made it to the "Unreal Ale" recipe as listed on the Coopers website: 1.7kg Coopers Real Ale kit, 1kg Coopers Brew Enhancer, 500g Coopers Light Dry Malt and the kit yeast. I let it condition in the bottle for three weeks and gave it a taste. Very good flavor, head retention, mouthfeel and color. Still just a tad green, I expect it will smooth out more with age - if it lasts that long! Good stuff! |

Good aleDid a little mini mash 2kg's 'english ale malt' firstly. after added challenger hops at 15 and 5 mins end of seperate boil. in the fermenter added 500gm s of white sugar with the coopers real ale kit. fermented quite high at 22 - 26 degrees. After 5 days of bottling tried one. Cant believe it! best brew ever. The head is creamy after just 5 days! Its not bitter too which I find shocking after just 5 days. Its a bit cloudy as yeast has not yet settled, but is a golden yellow/orange. Cant wait to try this in a few weeks. I am really wondering how you can go wrong with coopers....highly recommended ! |

First BrewMy first homebrew. Can of real ale plus 500gm light DME. 17 litres. First month very bitter. After 2 months good carbonation and clear in the bottle. Nice taste. After 3 months no bitter taste. May need to add some fresh hops if you want to keep it going for more than 3 months. Good beginners kit. |

Real AleThis was probably one of the finest beers I have brewed to date, with excellent malt and hop qualities and a decent kick in it as well. I used the kit plus 1500g light liquid malt, 500g crystal grain (steeped and sparged), 12g Fuggles hops boiled for 20min and another 12g dry in the fermenter for a few days before bottling. I ditched the kit yeast and used S-04. Ferment was 18'C. The beer came out wth a gold-amber, medium body and a smooth, balanced ytaste with the hops and aroma counterbalancing the malt well. The bitterness was clean and crisp and not overpowering. 5 star recipe, and a 4 star kit, its very versatile. I've even used it as the base for a mini-mash stout! |

impressiveWanted to do something a little different, and also use left over stuff! Used kit, 700 dex, 300g maltodextrin, 200g LDME. Added 25g hallertau MF, boiled for 2 min and steeped for 20. Fermented with safale-04. Steeped 25g willamette and added to brew for last 2 days of fermentation. Cracked first brew 4 days after bottling because a friend wanted to taste one - what a suprise - actually had head, let alone carbonation and tastes like a beer. strange but true, so cant wait for a few months to pass! |

BeautifulMade with 700g LDME, 300g DDME, 250g dex, 50g Crystal malt, 100g Black malt, 15g Progress, 15g Perle in a 15 min boil. Used S-04 yeast and fermented for 9 days at 18c. Magnificent and very flavoursome ale with a nice toastiness coming from the black malt. Fantastic beer that's a lot cheaper than some I've made. |

Nice with honeyCoopers Real Ale, with 1/2kg of honey, 1/2kg of brown sugar and the supplied yeast.Fermented at fairly high temps (25-28C). It turned out fairly rough initially, but after 3 months in the bottle, it is beautiful and smooth and the honey flavour has really come through. |

A trusted old friendThis was my staple for ages. Coopers Real Ale, 1kg liquid malt, recultured Coopers yeast, 30g Goldings hops boiled for 10 mins. A good round beer for quaffing but still with character. The standard yeast makes it a bit dry for a Real Ale, however. It is one of the few well bittered (30 IBU approx) widely available kits. Makes a good base for many variations. |

Real good for a kit...The first few beers I ever brewed were these. Excellent with the brew booster, and better still with a cultured yeast from the Coopers Sparkling Ale. Brewed at or below 20 deg and left to age a couple of months this is a very decent kit beer. My mates were happy with and said they couldn;t pick it from the Commercial stuff. (I dont know if that's a compliment...:-)) |
