Very goodNot every beer is good enough to share with mates. This one is definitely an exception. I made this with a can of light malt extract in accordance with the instructions, using Safale S-04 yeast instead of the packet yeast that comes with the kit, and brewed it at 22ºC. The result, after two months' bottle conditioning, is a clean but complex tasting and very competent Australian-style beer. Certainly, this beer has an interesting "thickness," a kind of substantial feel to it as you drink it, and a very professional taste and colour that is the equal to many of the trendy craft beers currently on offer at a bottle shop. As with most beer kits, I don't detect any significant hop aroma to this beer and I suggest the addition of 50g of hop pellets would be an improvement. Otherwise, this is a very good kit and well worth making. |

Autralian BitterGreat beer. Fermented with Saflager W34/70 at 10/11 Deg.C for about 2 weeks primary / 2 weeks secondary. Used one can of Coopers LME. Great taste, nice bitter hop aroma - not very strong but pleasant. Nice head retention and lacing. I just had problems with overcarbonation - I added too much DME. But beer is very clean in taste - no off flavours at all. I'm quite impressed. See on YouTybe: watch?v=IVOnS-e0ZYE |

I don'nt know why Coopers has to charge us so much to follow the instructions as recomended then give us not enough yeast to ferment at a lager temps. This brew just did'nt come out that well after 2weeks @15c and 3weeks lagering in kegs. It just tasted thick and unfermented even with a FG1006. For the price a 15gm pack of yeast would of made a better beer. | |||

Good beerFirst time I've made this one. Brewed with one tin of Coopers light LME and a dry lager yeast. I wanted to make it simple to use as a basis for future brews. It came out very nice, but with little or no head retention. Might do the next one with some specialty grains to help oout with the head issue. Other than that, it's a good one! |

As per instructionsMade with 1kg Light Liquid Malt (coopers) and can yeast. Produced a good solid beer, with a nice bitter finish and good head retention. Leave it sit for three months though otherwise too green. Good and easy to make and loses any homebrew character after maturity of 3 months. Mates love it. Give it a go for ease. |

MMMMM a bitterTried Cooper's Australian Bitter kit several times with good results. This kit has gone one on sale twice in last year for 1/2 price ($16.49). Kit includes can of hopped extract, can of light malt extract, yeast, and a bag of sugar drops for priming. Sign up at makebeer.net to get sale email (they don't send many e-mails, usually only for specials like this). I like adding a few hop additions, and a dry hop, but's it's excellent without adding anything. Cheers.. |

Make it real bitterBrewed with 1 x can of Morgan's Pale Malt Extract and Pride of Ringwood hops for 3 weeks at 13C. After 2 weeks in the bottle has moderate head retention good mouth feel and aroma. Very bitter hop on the palette and very crisp/clean aftertaste. Great beer to have with BBQ... Won't change this as the extra hops gives this brew a stand-alone character. Will only improve with time Good stuff! |

Coopers Australian BitterMade according to kit instructions, using the kit yeast and 1.5kg Black Rock Light Malt extract. It is a solid bitter as expected from the stable of Coopers. Easy drinking with a good hop malt balance reflective of the style. It is very slightly darker than perhaps a XXXX bitter ale, but not the extremes that many manufacturers produce, of claiming that it is Aussie style bitter and it oozes out of the fermentater darker than a Newkie Brown. A good kit and many hours could wiled away with resulting product. Cheers. |

Porter MixMade this up with 1kg of Morgans Choc Malt, 16g Fuggles (Standard Method) & Safale Yeast. Cracked one after a month in the bottle and lovely creamy head, great complex flavor. Probably the best brew I've made (minus some stouts which I seem to have mastered. A little on the bitter side, but let it warm up a bit out of the fridge and the bitterness drops and flavour improves. Great brew. |

Second time roundWell, this is my second go at this kit. Made it dark again. Used 1kg Liquid Crystal Malt and 500g malt/dex/cs mix. Added about 10g fuggles and used kit yeast. Around 23 degrees for a week. Not convinced I've got the best out of this kit yet. It needs a lot of time to get the sharpness out of the taste. I will try again with 1.5kg light malt, a better yeast and maybe a drop of honey. I'd rate this brew a three but I'll give the kit a four for potential. |

Great TasteThis is the Thomas Coopers kit, not the standard Coopers bitter! Made with 1kg Choc Malt extract, 500g Light dry malt, 500g Corn Syrup and 10g Fuggles to 22 litres with kit yeast. Way to much C.S. and foam everywhere when opened but the taste was great. Some off traits from the yeast due to high temps, I think. I'm making this again with less C.S., more fuggles and at 18-22 degrees. |

A favouriteThis is great. Though I think that the yeast supplied lets it down. Done as per instructions it's great between one month and 3 months, though can be a bit cloudy and yeasty tasting. Using a better lager yeast I've found that this is one of my favourites. I don't add malt because I love the very light colour of this. |

A Civilized PintFermented this kit per instructions for 6 days at about 25-26C. Tried one at a couple of weeks and it was O.K. At 30 days however, it is really a very good pint of bitter. I agree with the prior review that it was similar to Old Speckled Hen, but in my case it seemed a bit more malty than OSH(not at all objectionable though). Made per instructions you can't go wrong, but give it a full 30 days of conditioning. Great for a Civilized Pint at the end of the day! |

I like this stuff.I did a can of this Bitter with 50:50 dextrose and amber DME and at first was kind of disappointed with the result. But after three weeks in the bottle the beer turned the corner (as beer usually seems to at three weeks for me) and now I'm quite impressed. Taste is very similar to Old Speckled Hen. It is a bit thinner in body. Perfectly decent base kit, as usual from Cooper's. They are not fancy, but seem quite reliable. |

True to traditional English BitterVery near English Bitter (for an extract kit)I brewed this as a "two can" brew with Homeland draught. Used both yeast packets and split the brew into two seperate 12l fermenters - The one with Coppers dried yeast was better...But both very good beers for extract - true to style - most would like it a bit sweeter, but two can for me gives a correct English style Bitter. Brewed at 18-22 Two weeks primary only no seconday - bottle primed with DME. |

Yeah BabyHave made five of these now ! A great beer that everyone enjoys. I always add 2kg of liquid malt and ferment at 19*c. Have used both the kit yeast and Safale S-04 with great results. Hard to go wrong with these kits |

great stuffI've brewed this about 6 times each of them with an ultrabrew. 3 each with about 13g of either Pride of Ringwood or Goldings hop pellets (in a strainer with boiling water poured over them & left for 15 minutes ). It's absolutley fantastic, probably the best kit I've ever made. It's best after 3 or months in the bottle. Good body, head, bitterness & a little sweetness. Always popular with guests as well. You could drink it all day & all night |

Heritage BitterI like to do this as a dark bitter, I add 1kg of Muntons dark dme , 1/2 kg Muntons amber dme, 15gr goldings pallet hops for extra bittering, Safale S-04 yeast, 7 days primary at around 18-20 deg, 7 days secondary dry hopped with 10gr Goldings at 18-20 deg. |
