coopers ginger beerive just cracked my first bottle of coopers ginger beer, i dont know how anyone can dislike this brew. when i brewed mine i kicked off with 3 kilo of raw sugar(i know that seems a bit excessive) but acting on hunches i think it needed boosting up a level. i also used a quarter pound of root ginger grated using tea bag method, powdered ginger, powdered cinnamon, powdered paprika plus half a cup of lime juice in the stewing pot for half an hour and it blended perfectly.i half filled my fermenting vessel with ice cold spring water then added concentrate and then stew pot ingredients, primary ferment 2 weeks, secondary ferment 10 days, bottled for 3 weeks, the final abv was 7.2%. im going to brew gallons and gallons of this for sitting on patio in summertime. give this recipe a bash guys.......cheers |

Cloyingly sweetDo any of you really like it that way? All the sweetener is artificial so why couldn't it be in a separate pack so you can adjust to taste? Pity, really - the taste is otherwise fine, at least if you dilute it way out with tonic or soda. Added 500g crushed ginger, boiled 10 min. Had no raw sugar so used 500g brown sugar plus some dark DME + maltodextrins from an unused stout mix. Result was delicious, just too @#$%^&*! sweet. |

Coopers Ginger BEERKit + 1kg white sugar. fermented for a week at 18*c. SG=1040 FG=1020(expected, as with default ingredients only makes ~3% alco). Left bottled for a few weeks and opened one for taste. Sweet, with some spice to it but the ginger taste is a bit weak. This kit could be improved into a great ginger ale by adding some additional ginger and cinnamon. |

Ginger beer!Quiet happy with how my Coopers Ginger Beer turned out. 1.5kg raw sugar(can recommends 1kg) 2 medium knobs of fresh ginger, grated 1teaspoon ground cinnamon 1teaspoon ground nutmeg Followed instructions on the can, bottled for 3 weeks. Taste is quiet strong, as you'd expect, but it is very refreshing in a tall glass with icecubes. Going to go down well in the hotter summer months. |

Simple to make thirst quencher if you want to save some money in the summer months but not a decent substitute for the real thing (I'm referring to the non-alcoholic brewed soft drink option, not the alcoholic version you can also make with this kit). Morgans Ginger Beer is a superior product, in my opinion. By comparison, Coopers is thin, with a slightly metallic aftertaste. I know some folks contend Morgans and Coopers are the same stuff (since Morgans is part-owned by Coopers), but a side by side taste test puts paid to that idea. |
